Before you get a cold its great to take a great multivitamin capsule (not hard pressed); capsules are better for maximum absorption. Herbs such as dandelion roots and Par D'arco have vitamins in them too. I like to sip dandelion tea, its pretty good. But if you dont take vitamins and if you dont have dandelion tea then use whats in the kitchen.
Ginger is really great for runny noses and garlic and a wonderful immune system stimulant. At the first sign of getting sick cut a cube of ginger and eat it. Very spicy and not the best tasting but it is worth it. Next diced up a few cloves of garlic place in a mug and pour 4-6 ounces of hot water on top and add a few (just a few sprinkles of cayenne pepper) Repeat 2-3 times a day, and you cold will be shorter. If you get a sore throat boiling some hot water and place into a nice cup, squeeze 1/2 lemon in and a few spoons of honey. For health maintenance try this everyday but only once. I also recommend a netti pot for your nose. It help rinse out mucus at the end of a cold and keeps everything fresh in there.
