Making You Armpits Happy: Making Deoderant

So, my armpits have a mind of their own and they do whatever they want. One reason being is because I don’t keep them in check with antiperspirant deodorant. I have not used antiperspirant deodorant in over 2 years because it contains aluminum. You know the stuff that you wrap your food in, yep that is the same stuff in your deodorant; it’s in the form of very small particles. Now don’t think I haven’t been using deodorant at all LOL! I use Toms of Main deodorant, but that was not helping me! My armpits would laugh and be like, “what you trying to do with that stuff”. So ever since I have been on a quest to find a perfect natural non harmful deodorant. Then it dawned on me, “Make it yourself!”
Basically to decrease sweating the aluminum 'plugs' your sweat ducts. And that ain't good. You don’t want anything on your body being plugged when its main purpose is to excrete. Antiperspirant deodorant use has also been linked to breast cancer. Here is a link that you can visit to get the facts on deodorant and cancer http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/factsheet/Risk/AP-Deo  Inform yourself

If you are tired of no results from your current deodorant, or your armpits get tender from the use of your deodorant (not a good sign by the way, so stop using it), or you just want a better, cheaper, naturally efficient deodorant then make your own!

I will be making a bar of deodorant, but in the mean time here is a quick fix that I have tried...today LOL! So far it’s working for me. I will give an update tomorrow for the final results. All you need is:

Baking soda (it can be used for everything!)
 Vodka
Coconut oil

Instructions:
Use a small Dixie cup or a small container with a lid. pour about 2-3 table spoons of baking soda in the container and pour alcohol onto the baking soda till it forms a liquid paste(not thick but watery). Add two medium drops of coconut oil and one drop aromatic oil if you want to make your mix smell good, like lavender, spearmint, or orange.
To apply use a few cotton balls and just rub under your pits. Don’t use too much, just enough to cover the pit. If you have hairy underarms then you may want to avoid the cotton ball and use your fingertips to massage in the mix.

The baking soda serves and an absorbent and the alcohol kills the bacteria and the coconut oil is for a little moisture. Experiment with this and let me know you do to make it better

Muffins

Here is the recipe for the muffins. Remember to use your pulp from the juice you made the other day

2 cups Whole Wheat flour
1 cup extra virgin olive oil (evoo for all you Rachael Ray lovers out there LOL!)
1/2 cup of soy or almond milk (or regular milk if that's what you prefer)
1 teaspoon of nutmeg
1 teaspoon sea salt
2teaspoons cinnamon
2 teaspoons baking soda
2 teaspoons vanilla
3/4 - 1 cup of brown sugar (depends in how sweet you want your muffins)
2 cups pulp ( I use more than two cups but use how ever much you like)
4 eggs
1cup of pecans or walnuts

Preheat oven to 350. mix flour, olive oil, milk, salt, baking soda, eggs, and sugar. blend well then add remaining ingredients thoroughly. Cook for about 20 minutes. allow 10 minutes to cool and eat!

When making the muffins know that muffin batter is thicker than cake or pancake batter so the thickness is ok. The mix should still be moist. So, when you stir it you should hear the moisture, if its too still or doesn't make that moist sound add more milk.

I hope you enjoy!

Peace

Making Your Face Happy with a Little Baking Soda

I prefer not to use chemicals on my skin so I use a baking soda paste.May sound funny but it works. The paste provides a gentile exfoliation that is safe enough to be used everyday. I recommend every other day. This is my main facial wash; been using it for over a year and i love it!  So here is how you can make it for yourself:

a few big heaps of baking soda
a few drops of ylang ylang oil
enough water to make it into a creamy paste
One container with a lid that is shower safe

When making this mix be careful not to add too much water or oil. The mix should not be soupy it should be nice and thick and creamy. I use the butt of my tooth brush to mix it together LOL! Also when adding the ylang ylang oil only add a few drops. Ylang ylang is a strong aromatic oil so it will be very loud, plus you dont want your mix to have a lot of oil since your overall purpose is cleaning your face. Ylang Ylang oil is very good for the skin as well as a great aromatherapy oil. Try it out you may like it. For best results follow up with shea butter after. If you are feeling adventurous you can add in a little black soap from Ghana (at your local Black beauty supply store ) to give it a little lather when washing.

This mix is good not only for the face but also the body

Enjoy <3

Recycle that pulp

Save the pulp from your juicing to make muffins with. Recipe posted tonight!

Good Morning

Good Morning to you! Today for a good start I am going to try juicing instead of the traditional breakfast. I notice that sometimes I lack energy in the afternoon and this could be from me not eating enough brain food. Carbohydrates energize the body and B-vitamins energize the mind. So this morning I am going to start with some fruit with B vitamins and a spike of ginger for the immune system:

4 Medium Carrots
1 small bunch of broccoli
1/2 batch of raspberries
1/2 beet
2 cubes of ginger

Try it out if you have a juicer, if not then blend:

1/2 batch of raspberries
1/2 banana
1-1/2 cup of soy or almond milk
1/2 batch of blueberries
eat some almonds with this and call it a day

Peace
